Simply Filling Week 2 Thoughts

The second week on Simply Filling went good. I lost .6 of a pound this week so a total of 1.8 for the two weeks on it. I am happy with this loss considering it has been awhile since I've had a loss two weeks in a row. I think it is a great technique. I have enjoyed the break from tracking. I have noticed less trouble with the Snack Monster appearing in the afternoon and I feel leaner, less bloated.

I do not have anything bad to say about the plan but based on my experience, I do have a word of caution. If you are just starting Simply Filling, be sure you are still paying attention to portion sizes even though you do not have to measure and track food from the Simply Filling List. It is easy to take a bigger portion when not measuring and weighing. Just remember that it is not to be meant to be a “free for all”.  I found myself having to make a conscious effort to eat the same amount I would have as if I were counting points.

I feel this has been a great way to see if I can exercise portion control without measuring everything. Getting closer to goal and into the maintenance phase of my weight loss journey, I think this was a great test in proving to myself that I can do it.

The old tendencies to overeat are still lingering in the background and I think they will always be there. I had a bit of an incident with eating too many grapes this week. Yes, I know grapes are fruit but you can definitely have too much of a good thing. I was way too full afterwards. I wasn’t even hungry. I just ate. The difference now, is that I recognize and own up to it. I do not let it derail me for the rest of the day or week. I spent a little time reflecting about it, then moved on.

Going forward, I am going to try alternating between counting Smart Points and Simply Filling, doing 2 weeks on each. If I see that I was having better results on Simply Filling, I will do it more often. One of the great things about Weight Watchers is that we can switch back and forth as we see fit. As with any plan, do not forget that it may not be for everyone. Do what is best for you.
