Self Confidence

I have lost weight, inches, clothing sizes and even a half size in my shoes. I have also gained some things. At the top of the list is self-confidence. I was always a confident person but when I put on my weight, I noticed that I began to withdraw. I no longer wanted to attend social events. In this day and age where everything is Tweeted, Facebooked and Instagrammed, the last thing I wanted was for my picture to be taken. Let’s face it, when photos are taken by others they are not concerned with cropping or making sure we are shown in our best light. It’s snapped and posted instantaneously.

Today, I stepped out of my comfort zone! I went to a work luncheon and was the only one that attended from our company. I had no one to latch onto or hide behind. I had to be the face of the business. I had to be the one to network, mingle and be approachable. I did it. This is a huge NSV for me.

This weight loss journey has given me the confidence to walk into a room and not feel embarrassed. In the past, I would not have gone if I had to go alone. For that matter, I wouldn’t have probably went even if a group was going.  Not anymore. I am branching out to some new areas in my career and I am so excited for what the future holds.

Self-confidence is one thing that I don’t mind gaining.
