Hoppin' John

This meal is nothing fancy but it sure is delicious. It has become a tradition in our family to have this every New Year’s Day. The black-eyed peas are supposed to bring us luck for the new year. It is also believed that cabbage or collard greens are to be eaten for a prosperity. My husband and son do not like either but I cooked cabbage to go along with it since in a couple of years I will have one in college. I told them to eat seconds if that means some extra $ this year. :)
