At Goal. Now What?

After much deliberation, I decided to speak with my Doctor about my weight and the fact that I am still 7 lbs away from the range that Weight Watcher’s considers my ideal range. My body has been in maintain mode for quite a while and the scale has been stuck, bobbing up and down between a couple of pounds. Long story, short she gave me a note stating that my current weight is healthy for me as she feels my BMI is good.  I took the note into WW and after 3 and ½ years on the plan, I am now at GOAL!

A part of me felt a little sad that I didn’t make it to the number I have had in my mind since 2014. Do not get me wrong, I am extremely happy with being at goal and I am looking forward to becoming a long-awaited WW Lifetime Member. I have worked very hard to lose 85 lbs (95 total including what I lost in 2013 before WW). I dropped from a size 18/20 to a 6/8 pants and a 3X to a medium shirt. Maybe one day I will get to that original number but for now, I will live at this new goal number and see how I continue to feel.

Once at goal, then what? On WW, I have 6 weeks of maintenance. This means that I will need to stay within +/- 2 lbs of my goal weight. Technically, we get 6 more SmartPoints per day once on maintenance but I haven’t officially added those in yet but if I go over my dailies by a few, I will not worry. I do not anticipate maintenance being a problem since my body has naturally been doing it already. This is perfect timing because historically Summer tends to be maintenance rather than losing mode for me.  I will still be weighing in weekly and at the end of the 6 weeks, I will become a Lifetime Member. At that point, I am only required to weigh in monthly and not be more than 2 lbs over. Once a Lifetime Member, I no longer have to pay for meetings and the online tools.

My plan for the next 6 weeks is to basically stay on the same course with my eating. I am going to switch up my exercise routine and do some different type of cardio other than solely walking. I feel it is time for a change. I enjoy my walks but I need to add some variety. I am not going to focus so much on reaching a daily step goal. Although I plan to still wear by FitBit, I do not plan to join any StepBets during the Summer.

I am excited about entering this new part of my journey. Thank you all for the continue support and inspiration. I sincerely appreciate it!
